I grew up playing the sport for many years, played on a full collegiate scholarship for 4 years at a D1 university – Cleveland State. Lettered all four years and was team captain. I hold a USSF “C” License, serve on the Instructional Staff with Ohio North and also serve as a Staff Coach for Olympic Development Program, coached high school soccer at Lakewood HS, St. Ignatius HS, and Brunswick HS for 10 years. I have coached over 8 years at the premier soccer level with various clubs, also coached at the community travel level for 3 years.
I played 4 years in college (Grace College, Ind.), where I had a chance to play in the NAIA national tournament, and the NCCAA national tournament. Coached and played in California one year working with U-15’s, then moved back to Ohio. I started at Copley as the Head boys coach in 1988 and coached for 20 years. We went to the Regional Final in 90, the State Semi in 91 and won the State Championship in 94. I hold a "C" coaching license. I have coached with the ODP program, run many camps for youth soccer, and just finished my second year as an assistant coach at CVCA.
Wally Senk Staff Coach
Head Coach Copley HS GirlsWally brings 15 years of coaching experience to the Challenger Crew staff and has been here since its inception in 2007. In addition, he coaches the Copley High School Girls’ soccer team, is active in the Copley youth soccer program, and runs private technical sessions at various locations. Previously, Wally was the boys’ assistant at Walsh Jesuit High School in 2000 & 2001, reaching the state final both years. He then coached a year with the Copley High School boys’ team in 2002. In 2003, he took the head coaching position at Cloverleaf High School, where he spent six years with the boys’ program before taking his current position as the Copley Girls’ Head Coach. A graduate from Walsh Jesuit High School, Wally continued his career on an athletic scholarship at the University of Akron before graduating from St. Bonaventure University (NY). He was a 1st-team all-conference selection in each of his four collegiate years, earning All-Region Honors as a senior. He continued his career in the U.S.I.S.L. where he played two years for the Cocoa Expos, leading the team in scoring. He was on the All-tournament team in 1997 when the Cocoa Expos made it to the U.S.I.S.L. National Final in San Luis Obispo, California. Wally also relished the opportunity to train in Portugal before returning to finish his collegiate career. Wally holds a Bachelors of Science in Education from St. Bonaventure University and a Masters in Middle Level Education from Walden University. He holds a National “D” License pending his “C” License. Wally has been teaching for 12 years and currently teaches 7th/8th grade science at Copley-Fairlawn Middle School. Wally and his wife, Tara, reside in Akron, Ohio.
